Derin Akdurak
Derin Akdurak is a third-year student at Brown University from Izmir, Turkey. She is double-concentrating in History of Art & Architecture and Behavioural Decision Sciences. Her areas of interest in art history are: contemporary art, especially their political and psychological backgrounds reflecting the world we live in today; and 19th Century Orientalist, which she believes brings together the cultural traditions of the Middle East with the artistic adventurousness and fantasies of the continental West. She is the leader of the History of Art Departmental Undergraduate Group, the Vice President of the Cultural Association of Turkey, and the treasurer of the Brown Seafood Society.
